Walk it Like I Talk it!

Always Grounding when Brothers show up on our WalksWalk It Like I Talk It: Relationship Fitness Walk Series

Theme of the Month: Patience — Stretching the Mind, Body & Spirit

Peace Family,

At BRP Institute, our monthly Relationship Fitness Walks are more than movement—they are a return.

A return to nature.
A return to self.
A return to community.

Each step becomes a meditation.
Each breath becomes a release.
Each gathering becomes a reminder that we are not meant to grow alone.

This month, we walked together with intention—alongside our extended family:
GirlTrek, Lion King Brotherhood, Butterfly Queen Sisterhood, Green Goddesses, urban farmers, healthcare practitioners, teachers, elders, and children—all coming together to build what we call a healthy village.

Patience — A Relationship Fitness Skill

For April 2026, we centered our focus on one powerful life skill:

Patience

Patience is not passive.
Patience is a muscle.

It is one of the 12 core relationship fitness skill sets required to build a healthy relationship—with yourself first, and then with others.

When patience is underdeveloped, we experience tension:

  • Frustration
  • Impulsiveness
  • Desire for quick fixes
  • Disconnection from natural timing

This tension is a signal.

Just like in the body—when muscles are tight, they require stretching before strengthening.

The Practice of Stretching

Before I began strengthening my body through training, I discovered something important—my progress was limited, not because I lacked strength, but because my tendons and fascia were tight.

Once I worked with a stretch specialist—someone who understood what to stretch, when, and how—everything changed.

Growth flowed.

The same principle applies to patience.

Mental Tightness vs. Mental Flexibility

When we lack patience, we are mentally tight.

Tight in our:

  • Expectations
  • Beliefs about time
  • Desire for immediate results

So before we can build patience, we must stretch:

What are we stretching?

We are stretching our relationship with time.

We release the belief:

“There is not enough time.”

And replace it with:

“There is a natural time for everything to unfold.”

The Garden as Our Teacher

Think like a gardener.

If no seed is planted—nothing grows.

1. Intuit the Seed

What are you called to grow right now in your life?

2. Plant the Seed

Commit to it. Ground it.

3. Nurture the Seed

Give it your:

  • Time
  • Energy
  • Attention
  • Material resources (TEAM)

4. Imagine the Harvest

See it before you see it.

5. Follow the Instructions

Every seed has its own timing, rhythm, and requirements.

This is where patience is built—not in waiting idly, but in actively nurturing with trust.

The Nutrient for Patience

Just as muscles require protein and collagen…

Mental and emotional muscles require a different nutrient:

Intuition

Your connection to divine innate intelligence.
Your inner knowing.
Your soul’s guidance.

This is the most natural nourishment for your mind.

When you are connected to your intuition:

  • You stop rushing
  • You stop comparing
  • You trust your timing

And patience becomes natural, not forced.

Patience Builds Peace

Patience is not just about waiting.

It is about:

  • Trusting the process
  • Staying focused
  • Releasing distraction
  • Honoring divine timing

When you develop patience, you strengthen your ability to:

  • Build healthy relationships
  • Make aligned decisions
  • Create lasting results

And ultimately…

You build peace.

Walking It Out Together

This is why we walk.

Because walking:

  • Clears the mind
  • Grounds the body
  • Opens the spirit
  • Strengthens community

Together, we stretch.
Together, we grow.
Together, we build.

A healthy village starts with healthy individuals.
And healthy individuals are built through intentional practice.
