Relationship Fitness Walk Series (July 2026 Blog)
Theme: Taking Ownership
The Relationship Mirror Begins With Me

Thank You, New Orleans & Houston!

Peace Family,

July was a beautiful month of relationships, reflection, celebration, and community.

Before we begin this month’s Relationship Fitness conversation, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in our collaborative press recording, community conversation, and celebration at The Box Studios in New Orleans, commemorating Dr. Stephanie “The Peaceologist” Jupiter’s 30-year legacy of healing through podiatric medicine, patient education, and wholistic wellness.

Thank you to every community member, family member, healthcare professional, artist, leader, media representative, and supporter who helped make this celebration such a meaningful expression of healing, education, culture, and community.

We are grateful for every conversation, every shared story, and every relationship that continues to remind us that healing is a collective journey.

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our July “Walk It Like I Talk It” Relationship Fitness Walk here in Houston.

A special thank you to Qijah for hosting and creating another beautiful space where we could walk, reflect, listen, laugh, and grow together.

Whether we gathered in New Orleans to celebrate a legacy of healing or in Houston to strengthen our Relationship Fitness, each gathering reminded us that meaningful relationships are built one conversation, one reflection, and one intentional step at a time.

At the Building Relationship Power Institute, we believe a healthier world begins with relationship skill building.

And relationship skill building begins with individuals who are willing to grow.

Relationship Fitness Skill of the Month

Taking Ownership

One of the most meaningful conversations during our July walks were centered around ownership.

Ownership is one of the most important Relationship Fitness skills we can develop.

Yet it is often misunderstood.

Ownership is not blame.

Ownership is the willingness to recognize that everything we attract into our lives becomes part of our curriculum for growth.

It is choosing to become a student of life rather than simply a spectator of other people’s lives.

Life Is About Learning

One of the reflections we shared during our studio and walk session was this:

Life is about learning.

But perhaps even more importantly…

Life is about learning about me.

Every person I meet…

Every challenge I encounter…

Every success I celebrate…

Every disappointment I experience…

Every relationship I build…

Has the potential to teach me something about myself.

Everything I attract into my life arrives with an invitation to discover more about who I am.

When we begin seeing life through this lens, we stop asking,

"Why is this happening to me?"

and begin asking,

"What is life helping me discover about myself?"

That one shift transforms frustration into curiosity.

The Relationship Mirror

At SOL University, in Relationship 101, we introduce one of our foundational concepts:

The Relationship Mirror

A natural human tendency when in survival mode is to look outward.

We notice what everyone else should improve.

We analyze their choices.

We focus on their behavior.

We become experts at observing everyone except ourselves.

Relationship Fitness invites us to practice something radically different.

Before looking outward…

Look inward.

Before trying to improve someone else’s life…

Become curious about your own.

The first step toward healthier relationships is developing the skill of seeing yourself first.

Every relationship is a mirror.

Every interaction provides an opportunity to discover something about ourselves.

The Unfolding of Your Unique Life

At BRP Institute, we believe every person has a unique life already folded within the soul.

The purpose of maturity is not becoming someone else.

The purpose of maturity is unfolding who you already are.

That unfolding becomes much easier when we learn the laws of life and intentionally apply them.

How do we know we are becoming more aligned with those laws?

Not because life becomes free of challenges.

Not because every relationship becomes easy.

But because we begin experiencing sustainable joy as we move through life’s experiences.

Joy is not the absence of difficulty.

Joy is the evidence that we are growing in alignment with our authentic nature.

Challenges Reveal Our Superpower

Many people spend their lives trying to avoid challenges.

Relationship Fitness teaches something different.

Challenges do not come to stop our unfolding.

Challenges come to draw out our unfolding.

They reveal:

  • Our resilience.
  • Our wisdom.
  • Our creativity.
  • Our courage.
  • Our compassion.
  • And ultimately…

Our unique superpower.

When we accept responsibility for how we respond to life’s experiences, we reclaim the power to grow through them.

The Daily Practice of Ownership

Taking ownership is not easy.

In fact, it is one of the greatest mental shifts we can make.

Initially, accepting that what we see in the Relationship Mirror reflects an opportunity for our own growth can feel uncomfortable.

However, with daily practice, what once felt difficult begins to feel natural.

Ownership becomes less about defending ourselves…

And more about discovering ourselves.

Each day, begin with one simple question:

“Where am I in this experience?”

Not…

“Who can I blame?”

Not…

“Who needs to change?”

But…

“What is this relationship revealing about me?”

That one question transforms relationships into classrooms…

Challenges into opportunities…

And life into one continuous journey of joy and learning.

Walk With Us

Relationship Reflection

“Life is not happening to me. Life is introducing me to me. When I take ownership of what I attract, I see that every relationship is a mirror, every challenge is a teacher, and every step becomes part of the unfolding of my unique life.”
