Self Love Fitness = Putting your Oxygen Mask on First

This month at the BRP Institute, we’re diving into the theme of Self-Love Fitness. Our focus is on understanding its purpose and the transformative power it holds.

At our core, all beings instinctively know how to love themselves; it’s part of our nature. One clear example of this is found in our immune system. When something harmful enters our body, our immune system kicks in to protect us. This automatic response is a form of unconscious self-love, operating through our autonomic system.

Self-love also exists intuitively on a conscious level. This is what we call Self-Love Fitness. Unlike our bodies and subconscious mind, which can operate on autopilot, our consciousness needs intentional development to unlock its creative potential. Think of it like a daily workout program: just as physical fitness requires commitment to stay in shape, Self-Love Fitness demands our dedication to build our self-love muscle’s power.

Self-Love Power is a spiritual strength that keeps our life force vibrant, allowing us to remain aware and energized as we pursue our unique purpose.

Many of us spend a significant amount of time distracted, which is the antithesis of being Self-Love Fit. Distraction drains our authentic power (our life force), while Self-Love Fitness helps us restore it.

Embracing Self-Love Fitness – with the Island Sisters

This month, during our nature walk, Shea and I were blessed to host visitors from New Orleans, Minnesota, and New Jersey. These three biological sisters, natives of Trinidad, radiated a profound love that had been passed down from their mother. Their reflections on the self-love teachings they received exemplify how self-love can create generational peace, love and wisdom wealth.

During our walk, we reflected on two crucial questions:

  1. What is the purpose of self-love?
  2. How can you harness self-love power in your daily living to create the world you truly desire to experience?

Thank you to everyone who joined us on our “Walk It Like I Talk It” nature walk. Your commitment to Self-Love Fitness is truly inspiring!

  1. Thanks for the read. My question is are all distractions to the negative. What if your second job is your distraction to the first, but you need it to sustain life. What if you gave up all petty distractions yet are still unable to solve your worry. The inability to sustain life keeps one from the meditation needed to heal the self.

Thanks for the beautiful questions Sister Melissa. We don’t see distractions as negative or positive. We see them as indicators that we steering away or diluting our attention from the main focus of our lives, our self. Without our full self, we are not fully effective at anything. It is when we give our 100% to what we are involved in at at any given moment is when we get the optimal results and fulfillment.

At the root of distractions is doubt. Doubt has symptoms of fear, worry and anxiety. Building self Trust is key to transforming worry as well as conquering distractions.

Let’s connect soon, I would love to share more with through an experience. These life concepts are best understood through living them, experiencing them.

Look out for an invitation to a Conquering distraction Meditation class in January 2025. Much love always!
