Project Butterfly Houston
A Rite of Passage for the Next Generation of Leaders
Project Butterfly Houston is a transformative rites-of-passage program designed to guide girls through one of the most important transitions in life — the journey from adolescence into empowered womanhood.
Rooted in cultural wisdom, mentorship, and intentional personal development, the program helps young women discover their identity, purpose, and inner strength while learning the responsibilities that come with leadership and adulthood.
The butterfly symbolizes transformation. Just as a caterpillar evolves into something capable of flight, each participant is supported through a process of self-discovery, confidence building, and leadership developmen
What Participants Experience
Through a structured and supportive curriculum, participants engage in learning experiences that promote self-awareness, leadership development, emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and community responsibility.
Participants learn practical life skills including communication, financial literacy, healthy decision-making, and confidence building. Girls are guided by mentors, community leaders, and supportive women who help them recognize their potential and cultivate the strength needed to shape their future.
Project Butterfly Houston believes that raising strong young women is a community responsibility. The program creates a nurturing environment where girls are supported not only by mentors but by a circle of women dedicated to uplifting the next generation. Through mentorship, dialogue, and shared experiences, participants develop meaningful relationships with peers and mentors who walk alongside them throughout their growth journey.
Rites of Passage for Women
While many cultures historically honored a girl’s transition into womanhood, modern society often lacks meaningful rites of passage. As a result, many adult women are still navigating identity, purpose, and leadership without ever experiencing a formal transition into empowered womanhood.
For this reason, the Butterfly Queens Sisterhood also facilitates empowerment circles and rites-of-passage experiences for adult women. These gatherings create space for women to reconnect with their inner wisdom, strengthen their voice, and step more fully into their purpose and leadership.
Restoring Balance in Leadership
Healthy communities require balanced leadership from both men and women. Through the Butterfly Queens Sisterhood for girls and women and the Lion King Brotherhood for boys and men, BRP Institute helps cultivate leadership rooted in respect, accountability, and cooperation.
Together these programs help nurture strong families, confident young leaders, and thriving communities.
