Walking Honestly in Truth: Trust, Honesty & the Relationship Mirror
Building Relationship Power Institute | House of Peace
“I Walk It Like I Talk It” Monthly Nature Walk Series
Each month at the House of Peace, we align our walk with a deeper inner journey—one that brings us back to ourselves, back to truth. This time, April’s theme “Trusting Your Truth” and May’s theme “Being Honest” harmonize into a powerful call: a call to walk honestly in your truth—to see yourself clearly, courageously, and compassionately.
The Bridge Between Trust and Honesty
Being honest—truly honest—is not simply about telling the truth about a situation. It’s the willingness to see yourself fully in the mirror of your life. That includes your habits, thoughts, emotional patterns, fears, and reactions.
And where is that mirror? It’s found in all of your relationships: with other human beings, your physical body, your finances, and—most importantly—your own self-talk.
Being honest is not about confessing other people’s secrets or managing your image for approval. It’s about locating yourself. Right here. Right now. At BRP (inspired by SOL University), we define honesty as:
“The courage to express your raw truth in any given moment.”
Trusting Your Truth Isn’t About Your Circumstances
Many of us confuse “trusting our truth” with identifying ourselves by our challenges or situations. But trusting your truth is not about trusting the chaos or labeling yourself by your pain. It’s about seeing what the challenge is specifically designed to draw out of you.
Your truth is not your trauma. It’s what’s being refined in you because of it.
Challenges are sacred—they are catalysts. But when we filter them through the lens of how we want to be seen—when we contort our truth to fit in, to be liked, or to stay safe—we block the emergence of our whole, powerful, authentic self.
We end up performing a version of ourselves instead of expressing who we truly are.
Maturity Means Responsibility
We often talk about physical maturity, but emotional and spiritual maturity require different forms of tracking.
You can measure your weight, blood pressure, job title, or bank balance. But where are you mentally? Spiritually? What’s your inner emotional state?
This is where self-honesty becomes the gateway. We begin to mature when we take full inventory of our internal world—our beliefs, emotional responses, and level of self-love.
And what is the most accurate mirror we have for that inventory? RELATIONSHIPS.
They reflect back what we believe about ourselves. If you look carefully, they will show you your thought patterns—where you still hide, where you still people-please, where you still judge yourself, what lessons you’ve already mastered, and where you’re ready to grow.
Wholeness Over Image
Let’s be clear: honesty isn’t always comfortable. But it’s always powerful.
The journey of trusting your truth is a process of un-layering. Like peeling back an onion, you remove identities, roles, opinions, cultural narratives, and inherited beliefs—until what remains is the essence of you.
That essence may not fit the mold of who others think you should be. It may not even fit who you thought you were. But it is the part of you directly connected to divine intelligence—the power within that animates your purpose.
Trying to live in your truth while still identifying solely with your outer image or limited identity is like trying to squeeze an elephant into a size 9 shoe: painful, unsustainable, and a choice.
🕊️ Peace = Power
When you live from your honest truth, you stop leaving parts of yourself behind. At the BRP Institute, we say:
“We leave no power behind.”
Because truth is power. When you trust your truth and are honest about it, you begin to experience peace—not as an abstract concept, but as a lived, felt state.
That inner peace becomes your power.
❓ Are You Ready?
Ask yourself:
- Am I willing to see my whole self in the mirror of my life?
- Am I ready to acknowledge where I am—without shame?
- Am I ready to speak my truth—without diluting it for acceptance?
Trusting your truth and having the courage to be honest at all times is the beginning of real freedom. The truth shall set you free—only if you’re willing to tell it to yourself first and live it.
🌿 Reflection Questions for Your Walk:
- What truth have I been avoiding because it’s uncomfortable to admit—even to myself?
- How might my relationships be reflecting a habit I haven’t fully owned yet?
- What does trusting my truth and being honest look like in practice—not just in theory?
Walking honestly in your truth is a practice, not a destination. It’s about tuning into the “yellow lights” in your life before they become red stop signs. And it’s about remembering that your truth—once trusted and expressed—isn’t just healing for you.
It’s healing for the entire world around you.
