Walk it Like I Talk it!
October’s Theme: Self-Discipline
Welcome to our monthly House of Peace nature walk! Even if you’re not in the Houston area, you can still participate through this blog post. Join us virtually for a check-in before walking and engage in intuitive stretching exercises centered on this month’s life skill: self-discipline. Each theme we explore is designed to help restore and maintain inner peace. Be sure to check our website regularly and join our Facebook group for updates!
Understanding Self-Discipline
Self-discipline is all about being receptive to your inner voice. Its purpose is to guide us toward obedience to our soul’s calling, helping us align with our instructions for a peaceful, fulfilled, and joyous life. The word “discipline” contains “disciple,” which means to follow. This highlights that self-discipline is not a punishment; rather, it is a consistent practice of tuning into the divine intelligence within us. When we heed this inner guidance, we experience profound inner peace—and through that peace, we discover our true potential.
At the BRP Institute, we’re excited to shift the perception of self-discipline from a concept of punishment to one of thriving life skills. Traditionally, discipline has been linked to wrongdoing, but we want to redefine it as “listening to oneself for the purpose of mastering oneself.”
In today’s world, we face a crisis of trust—both in ourselves and in the broader environment. This disconnection can cloud our personal truths and make it difficult to discern reality. As the saying goes, “The truth shall set you free.” At the BRP, we know that Living the Truth is vital for maintaining inner peace, which is the foundation of true freedom.
Trusting Your Authentic Voice
When we embrace our true selves, we gain clarity on our authentic vision. This vision can help us maintain unshakable peace, even in challenging circumstances. Our disobedience to our inner voice is often the root cause of stress, worry, anxiety and feelings of powerlessness. This month, let’s commit to practicing self-discipline by deepening our listening skills. The more we listen and obey our authentic voice, the greater peace we cultivate within ourselves, which in turn ripples out into the world. It all starts with you—your practice of self-discipline matters and makes a significant difference, both personally and globally.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on our walk: Pat, Noura, Busi, and the (Rites of Passage) Project Butterfly Girls.
Reflective Questions
During our walk, we reflected on two crucial questions:
- Are you following yourself?
- Are you obeying your inner divine voice?
If not, whose voice are you following? Remember, self-discipline is not a punishment; it’s a pathway to freedom.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our “Walk It Like I Talk It” nature walk. Your commitment to Self-Love Fitness is truly inspiring!
We would like to recognize our special guest, Tony, the facilitator of the Lion King Project Brotherhood. This men’s group focuses on self-knowledge and meets every Monday via teleconference at 7 PM Central Time.
Call to Action
We encourage you to practice self-discipline daily. Take a moment each day to listen for and to your divine inner voice. Reflect on your relationship with this voice—do you trust it? Are you obedient to it? If you seek support on your journey, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at the BRP Institute for self-love fitness coaching.
